The unthinkable happened dated on 21 Oct 2016 — Twitter, Reddit, Spotify, and a ton of other most popular websites mysteriously stopped working.

Anyway, it seemed like a near apocalypse. It happened as hackers unleashed what is called a large distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on the servers of Dyn, a major DNS host. Domain Name Servers (DNS) act as the Internet's phone book. Basically, they facilitate your request to go to a certain webpage and make sure you are taken to the right place.

Therefore, as precautionary measures, such steps have been taken to escape from the eyes of hackers.
